Five Best Tips for Managing Your Boss
Dr. Dee Soder

  1. Don’t try to change them—you can’t!!
  2. Try to see the world from their perspective. (Beware the “I” mentality--this is the way I would do it…). If you think you have a bad boss, he or she probably thinks you are a problem employee.
  3. Remember what a bad boss is for one person is not necessarily a bad boss for someone else.
  4. Be alert to your Boss’s “style” and beware of people under stress.
  5. Communicating up is vital. Keep your boss informed and don’t hesitate to ask questions. Be sure to tell your boss when you’ve achieved something. Your boss generally won’t know you’ve done something great unless you tell them. It is only inappropriate if you’ve said it badly. Plus your boss wants to know about your accomplishments too. Why? So he/she can tell their boss.
